About us
MCL Marine was set up by owner Matt Ledingham to provide a professional and experienced pool of skippers for the charter and commercial sector.
All our skippers come from a maritime background and have vast experience in the marine industry. They have covered many hundreds of thousands of sea miles across the globe in a wide range of craft.
Matt has been boating from a young age, sailing with relatives and was a keen member of the sea scouts until being kicked out for being too old!
After gaining his Officer of the watch certificate he served on a variety of different ships as a Navigation Officer before joing Disney Cruise Line in 1999.
He quickly rose through the ranks to become the youngest 1st Officer in the company and received the 'Crew Excellence Award' for outstanding performance in the Deck Department.
Since leaving Disney Cruise Line Matt has been associated with various small craft and yachts including one of the worlds largest yachts.
In 2002 he joined Associated British Ports as a Vessel Traffic Services operator in the busy port of Southampton where he has gained an intimate knowledge of the Solent.
These days he is associated with much smaller vessels and is a qualified and experienced RYA Powerboat instructor and Professional Skipper.
Having covered more than half a million miles at sea since the start of his professional career, Matt decided it was time for a change and set about forming MCL Marine.
Combined with a true love of the sea and attention to detail, MCL Marine strives to offer a highly professional and personal service.
