RYA Powerboat Training

Matt is a qualified and experienced Powerboat Instructor and works part time as Chief Instructor at a local Powerboat school. 

We can arrange RYA Powerboat training through an RYA recognised Sea School based in Cowes.

Level 1 – A one-day course designed to give an introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment.

Level 2 and ICC –A two-day course. Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence.

Intermediate - A two-day course designed as a progression from Level 2, introducing pilotage, navigation and boat handling techniques for planing boats on coastal waters by day.

Advanced - Course for the serious leisure user and professional powerboater wanting to undertake more adventurous trips in small powerboats. 

Includes pilotage, navigation and boat handling techniques for planing boats on coastal waters by day and night. Two days including one night exercise.


We can also arrange the RYA Motor Cruising courses and shore based courses including VHF, First Aid and Radar.

We can provide personal tuition on your own boat, as much or as little as you want.

Personal tuition is a great way of increasing your confidence and learning some valuable tips which have been specifically tailored for you needs.

Personal tuition can be arranged by the half day or full day.

Matt has extensive teaching experience in all types of Powerboats from RIB's through to 25m motor cruisers.
